Demand Assigned Multiple AccessTHISS Technologies have designed, patented, and implemented a novel Demand Assigned Multiple Access (DAMA) system capability.
DAMA refers to the ability for the terminal (remote) to request and release dedicated (non-contended) satellite system radio resources (frequencies, timeslots, codes) for its use, according to its throughput needs, which typically change over time. For example in a voice application, the terminal may request dedicated capacity on the satellite when a voice call is made, and then release capacity at the end of the voice call. DAMA allows the satellite bandwidth cost to be shared among a much larger number of terminals, according to the time-varying needs of each terminal, leading to cost-effective system operation. The DAMA techniques patented by THISS Technologies allow for fast acquisition of radio resources when they are required. |
