| Vision In conjunction with its partners, THISS is developing a unique range of high
performance regional and global satellite services using a new generation of
mobile and portable micro-sized VSAT terminals at revolutionary service pricing
levels, launched in July 2005 for its mini V offering and an initial commercial
launch on its Streamsat Prima (MobilT) service and product in March 2006.
The terminals
which are much smaller than existing VSAT’s offer users
increased portability and ease of installation greatly
enhancing the attractiveness of the service, as well as
significantly reducing the terminal equipment prices for
mobile installations.
The substantial
reduction in satellite air time costs compared to existing
mobile satellite services, allows THISS to market its
products and services with substantial distribution margins
so increasing the attractiveness of its services to existing
service distributors and customers, as well as allowing for
new markets and applications that could not historically be
cost justified.
THISS’s strategic
competitive advantage is the development and patenting of
new, compact, and highly efficient mobile antenna technology
that enables for the very first time mass mobile access to
the low cost, pre-existing Global C band satellite systems.
In addition THISS has also developed, and provisionally
patented, an innovative network architecture and burst mode
satellite access protocol, which is based on pre-existing
internet access techniques and hardware solutions, thus
minimizing the network deployment costs, service development
schedules and associated risks, whilst having greatly
increased network functionality using IP compared to other
competitive networks.
Globally C band
satellites have been increasingly used for existing remote
communication markets as an alternative to L band mobile
satellite technologies, for more cost effective telephony
and higher throughput data services which can be provided
from portable, fixed or mobile terminals. This demand comes
from a number of diverse market sectors including peace,
aid, government, security, mining, oil and gas remote
exploration industries as well as the broad professional
marine market. These markets are worth approximately US$1
Billion per annum in revenue, and THISS is seeking to
address the top one quarter of market, and build a business
valuation in excess US$100 m with this opportunity.
Through its
Streamsat Prima offering, THISS is also seeking to address
new markets which the revolutionary terminal technology and
pricing allows related to “tracking and telemetry”
applications which do not currently exist, but, are under
development worldwide. These often relate to “homeland
security” and other Government requirements being introduced
by number of concerned Agencies responsible for logistical
transport management in marine, and land transport markets.
Other commercial tracking markets are also being introduced
due to wide spread introduction of cellular (especially GPRS)
data networks which are becoming increasingly used for asset
management and only offer limited coverage. THISS is well
positioned to partner with these existing cellular
technology companies to offer wide area coverage, with a
real time, high availability, affordable service. These
markets are global, potentially huge, far exceeding the
current satellite market opportunities.
In addressing
these tracking applications THISS believes significant
opportunities exist for licensing its antenna, modem,
terminal and system IP (including software) technologies
with key players who are well known in the industry for
managing these “homeland security” matters. Additionally,
THISS is already actively working with number of cellular
technology and established service providers for development
of dual mode GPRS and satellite terminals.
By combining with
a number of strategic partners THISS can offer a complete
solution to customers while minimizing technical and market
development risk. These partners include initially Agilis
(now ST Electronics (Satcom & Sensors), a unit of Singapore
Technologies Electronics Ltd (Electronics Arm of Singapore
Technologies Engineering – SGX: ST Engineering), in the
manufacture of terminals and Intelsat for satellite access
and network connections with pre-existing customer and
network service centre operations and distribution channels,
Brunswick New Technologies, another recent investor that has
a land and marine set of customers that THISS will look to
leverage its suite of products into and Hills Industries in
Australia, with revenues approaching almost AUD 1 billion
and a satcom division that has been actively promoting THISS
products into Australia and New Zealand.
In its portfolio of products THISS is seeking to partner
with existing service providers and technology partners so
as to minimize the risk, and increase the potential market
size for its range of services. Specifically THISS is
focused initially on the wholesale distribution of services
initially within a local regional SE Asian/Australia basis
and extending to other regional and global market access
with other name brand Service Integration (SI) partners.
This includes Intelsat in the provision of a managed marine
satellite network and service platform. |
